Would you like to use your skills and experience in planning and preparing delicious food, knowing that you’re supporting young children to learn, grow, and thrive? Working as a Chef at Guardian Tarneit Grand Central puts you at the centre of supporting the care and education of young children. Your food will support how they learn about colour, smell, taste, touch, and experience the wonders of food.
The Opportunity
- Develop a seasonal, nutritious menu that respects individual requirements regarding medical conditions, food preferences, and cultural considerations and ensures children’s health and wellbeing
- Ensure children’s health and wellbeing
- Building strong relationships with the children, Educators, families and the Centre community
- Ensure best practice food safety and hygienic standards are always upheld.
To be considered, you will have:
- Food Safety Supervisor certificate or Handling Certificate,
- Certificate III in Commercial Cookery or working towards is desirable,
- Must have experience cooking for people with dietary requirements and allergies,
- An awareness of your personal responsibilities under the current Child Protection Laws,
- Current Working with Children’s Check for Victoria state,
- Be an Australian citizen or Permanent Resident.
You will be creating menus full of delicious and nutritious snacks and meals for children and their Educators, as well as being part of the learning experience when they help you prepare food, forage from the garden and learn about what they’re eating. It all comes together at mealtimes where children and Teams share food together, enjoying each other’s company and learning how nothing brings people together like great food.

We can’t wait to welcome you to our brand new, purpose-built Tarneit childcare centre. At Guardian Childcare & Education Tarneit Grand Central, children aged six weeks to six years will be supported to be bold, creative and imaginative each day in their play and learning.
We are thrilled that this marks the second Guardian child care centre in Tarneit! We already have strong ties with the local community, and a deep understanding of what families in the area value most when choosing their childcare and education provider.
